BRAIN FUNCTIONS AND ACTIVITIES
In order to understand how the brain prevents and enables creativity, we need to understand how the human brain works. As we all know, the natural functions of the brain are vital for survival and effective living. According to “The Amazing Human Brain” (Perry) our brain has four key actions; sensing, processing incoming signals, storing elements of this information, and inputting and acting on the incoming information.
Read more here:
- The first key action, sensing, is carried out through our sensory organs (eyes, ears, nose, tongue, skin) and are transmitted through our sensory signals (sound, site, taste, touch).
- The second key action, processing incoming signals, is where information enters our central nervous system and is matched against previously stored patterns and if finally categorized.
- The third key action, storing elements of information, is where memories are made and internal representations are stored.
- The final function, inputting and acting on incoming information, is where the brain controls the body’s actions.
