CREATIVITY AND NOVELTY
According to Stephen Mills article on “Creativity and Novelty”, novelty is an important component in fostering creativity. "Novel experiences are so effective at unleashing the imagination because they force the perceptual system out of categorization" (Berns, Gregory. 2008. p.3). The idea behind this is that you “can’t think outside the box if you keep sitting in the same box”. The way to increase novelty to spark imagination and hence creativity, is to seek out new experiences, listen to different genres of music and to socialize with different groups of people. "The more radical the change, the greater the likelihood of fresh insights." (Berns, Gregory. 2008. p.2)

- People
- Physical is better than virtual
- Change up your environment
- Drive, walk, and exercise using different routes
- Diversify your reading material
- Travel
- Natural is better than artificial
- Vary everything
- Think laterally"

- Stop watching too much television
- Walk in the rain
- Get up early and watch the sunrise
- Skydive
