INNOVATION VS. INVENTION
Innovation is not the same as invention. Innovation does not require invention. However, invention can contribute to innovation. (Ogan, 2012, p.1)
Innovation can be defined in two ways:
- The first one is that it can be a market application of a new invention.
- The second one is that it can be a market application of existing inventions through the creation of new processes.
1) "Invention" can be defined as the "creation of a product or service or the introduction of a new process" while “innovation” occurs when there is an improvement or major contribution to an existing product, process, or service.
2) Invention is the occurrence of an idea for a new product, service, or process. Meanwhile, innovation is viewed as the action of carrying the idea out into practice.
3) Invention is about a single product, service, or process while innovation usually encompasses a variety of products, services, and processes that translate ideas in a successful manor and have a prominent impact on society.
